From time to time we have to reflect on our core mission. Artwork from a centerfold of What Is Enlightenment? (magazine) My initial enlightenment experience (satori, in Japanese) took place in 1971. It was deepened five years later when I encountered Master Sant Keshavadas of the Himalayan meditative tradition. I emptied myself so that I might mature under a seasoned master. Years passed before... Read more

Eleven years have passed since the tragedy of 9-11. Whether by design or coincidence we received a reminder that America is still a target. We lost our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, and three other officers of the U.S. consulate in Benghazi,Libya, through violence, and our embassy in Cairo is also being threatened. The violence began on the exact day of the Eleventh anniversary of the Twin Towers attack.... Read more
MAY DAY! Suppose no one answers your cries for help?

The tradition continues When I read a newspaper article or hear a news report detailing how someone has been injured or killed by a senseless act of violence I am deeply troubled. On one hand, I am grieved by the fact that a person can be so lacking in human compassion that they have no problem inflicting pain, suffering or death on someone else. Yet, these crimes do take place, daily. No one knows... Read more

When I was a child there was nothing more exciting than a Saturday morning action movie. The sounds, the visuals and even our anticipation pumped us up for maximum adrenalin output. When we left the cinema the world was brand new. We were superheroes, or at least, heroes, depending on what picture we were watching. However, beyond the running and jummping we did on the way home, there was no... Read more

GLADYS KNIGHT ... A LESSON IN RHYTHM, GRACE AND SOUL Watching legendary singer Gladys Knight perform her first dance on this season's Dancing with the Stars was genuinely breathtaking to me. Going strictly by calendar years Ms Knight would be categorized as a senior citizen. On the dance floor her movements and joyfulness transformed her into an age-defying diva who caught my attention and... Read more
ONE MIND,ONE BODY,MANY HANDS

"I am a loner. I stand and walk alone," so begins a poem I wrote in my teens. For many years I believed that. I adopted the Bushido attitude of the Samurai. Whatever occurred in life I expected to face it resolutely without looking for help. That was then when I was burning with the fire of youth and lacking in wisdom. No matter who we are, we need other people. We need each other, we can't... Read more

Reverend Dr. King stood for peace, When I first began hearing the name, Dr. Martin Luther King I was in high school. At the time, I heard Reverend C.H. Jordan make reference to him and a phenomenon known as a sit-in. The most intriguing part of his talk with the congregation was the revelation that Dr. King was leading African-Americans in the peaceful pursuit of our Civil Rights. My blood-flow... Read more

Time for change. It is the beginning of a new year. In various parts of the world there will be great celebrations. Though it is the beginning of a new year, in various parts of the world there will be great suffering. The numbers of years may go up but it does that mean that the intelligence of Man goes up with those numbers. Generation after generation we have found ways to inflict greater pain... Read more

To be cosmic is to be all-embracing. The Christ-Child is cosmic in nature but our limited minds divide the message. Perhaps, if we learn to look to the Un-manifest, we will get it... and the message keeps coming. Play video below. Read More →

Giving thanks for this is easy ...but what if there were more to Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is truly a delicious holiday (Photo by whatsfordinner.net). My mother loved eating, so a photo of a sumptuous looking turkey would not offend her. My, mother, however, knew what Thanksgiving was really about at the spiritual level. This article is about giving thanks in a most personal way. I hope it inspires... Read more
